State Campaigns Internship

Marijuana Policy Project

Location: USA –  Washington, DC                                                  

Description –

The Marijuana Policy Project is seeking an intern for its State Campaigns Department for Summer 2017. This is an unpaid, full-time internship, with class credit available. The intern is expected to work 30 to 40 hours per week and will have the chance to play a role in a successful nonprofit organization. The internship will start in May/June and run until August/September, depending on the academic schedule of the intern.

MPP’s State Campaigns Department is responsible for the following: (1) overseeing MPP’s work on 2018 ballot initiative campaigns; (2) managing the implementation of legalization laws passed by voters in Maine, Massachusetts, California, and Nevada; and (3) leading our legislative legalization efforts in Rhode Island.

The State Campaigns intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting staff with campaign administration;
  • Assisting with managing campaign social media accounts;
  • Assisting with writing projects such as op-eds and blog posts;
  • Research to verify or debunk the veracity of claims or editorials about marijuana initiatives; and
  • Miscellaneous projects and research as assigned.

Candidates should expect a fast-paced, professional environment and should have excellent oral and written communications skills. The ideal candidate will have an interest in marijuana policy and ballot initiative campaigns and demonstrate a professional demeanor, close attention to detail, and excellent research abilities.
