Government Affairs Administrator

Location: USA – Frederick, MD

Description –

The Government Affairs Administrator position is primarily responsible for supporting government and regulatory affairs activities and may assist with review and maintenance of A2LA contracts. 

This position reports directly to the Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager.

Position Summary

Government Affairs (73%)

  • Tracks and monitors legislation and regulations important to A2LA and provides summary reports to management.
  • Provides coordination, research, and analysis in support of government strategy and advocacy initiatives.
  • Performs policy research and prepare summaries and analyses.
  • Coordinates with A2LA staff to provide government relations guidance.

Contracts – 27%

  • Provides support in all aspects of contract management including contract proposal, negotiation, administration, and tracking.
  • Ensures that all contracts are legally compliant and in accordance with A2LA policies.
  • Provides contracts summaries or reports to A2LA management upon request.
  • Acts as a resource for staff to communicate terms and conditions of contracts and to resolve conflicts stemming from existing contracts.

Qualifications (Knowledge)

A successful candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field of study is preferred; however, an Associate’s Degree with applicable experience may be accepted.
  • 2-4 years of experience in government relations or contracts experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract/Purchase Order terms and conditions.
  • Experience in legislative work preferred.
  • Moderate understanding of the government compliance process.
  • Must be comfortable and knowledgeable in communicating legal terminology.
  • Experience working with SalesForce and/or CQRoll is preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify trends and propose solutions.
  • Customer focused.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Ability to apply excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to both internal and external staff.
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk; sit for long hours, use fingers for typing; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision for reviewing documents on the computer or in hard-copy state. 

Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office setting. Hours are flexible, but they should normally encompass at least the core hours of 09:00AM to 03:00PM, total at least forty (40) hours for each work week, and suit the needs of various training clients, where appropriate.
