Are you passionate about the rights of patients to access a GP when they need one? Interested in using your campaigning skills to protect the NHS for future generations? Want to join a successful team that is truly influencing debates on the future of healthcare across the UK?


If this sounds like you, why not join us? We are looking for an experienced campaigner to plan and implement high-impact campaigns to help us achieve our strategic objectives. Along with the rest of the Policy and Engagement team you will contribute to plans to realise the policy priorities selected by our membership. You will work at every level to help improve patient care, from influencing the UK Parliament to building local networks to influence change at the grassroots.


The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a demonstrable track record of bringing about change through a variety of campaigning techniques. They will be able to use a variety of channels to communicate and engage with different audiences, from our patient supporters to decision makers and opinion formers. They will bring experience of planning and delivering projects as well as a strong understanding of the UK health system and the issues affecting general practitioners


The post holder will:

• Plan and execute high profile cross college campaigns in agreed priority areas, securing buy in as required from the appropriate decision-making structures

• Work with policy and research colleagues to identify, commission and undertake research that will provide an evidence base for campaigns and help to drive them forward

• Generate storylines that will help to propagate our campaign messages.

• Work with colleagues in PR & corporate communications and elsewhere to ensure that campaigns get out their key messages using the full range of communication channels, including mainstream social media

• Drive the delivery of the RCGP’s engagement with key external decision makers and opinion formers, proactively securing meetings with decision makers and opinion formers.

• Educated to degree standard, or equivalent work experience
